This is Wally.
JRO199K (Previously MN 3462 and CBM 317T )
1972 Beetle From the Isle Of Man
I am guessing he was built mid June
1972...
Purchased June 2013 with just 49498 original
miles on the clock.
He is 41 years old
What I know so far...
w so far...
Originally from Isle of Man... Came over in 1978 and given a T plate...
2 Registered owners on V5.
I dont know of the first is the owner from IOM?
The guy I got it from was the owners son. The owner bought it in 1986 and
hardly used it. He is in his 90's now.
It was given the age related plate in 1998
I was put onto it buy some good friends..
It had just under 49550 miles on the clock when I picked it up...
It wasnt in a barn.
It has got 2 weeks MOT ...
Needs a couple of small welds to make solid, but not for an MOT.
The first MOT I have is from 1994 when it was on 46804 miles.. so 2750 miles
in 19 years... thats not a lot...
Its a lovley car, but has been played with a litle - it has had 3 wings and
most of it painted...
The doors fit as they should and it doesnt appear to have been crashed... it
drives as you would expect :)
It needs to tidying and sorting.
Aparantly at one point the whol thing was covered in wax oil?
I've found and fitted a genuine VW Exhaust today and fitted new fuel lines..
Looking forward to getting it past 50000 miles. - See more at:

(Thank you both)

Apparently at one point the whole thing was
covered in wax oil?
He had a wing and the rear bumper
missing.
After having a good look over and a chat, we
agreed a price, I bolted on the wings and bumper and off we went...
The first Drive was interesting. He hadn't
been anywhere in months and was only running on 3 cylinders... the fuel gauge
was reading empty... even though we had put a jerry can of fuel in..
We stopped for fuel and then suddenly the
4th cylinder joined in... this showed the hole in the exhaust to be quite
large... we popped and banged for a bit and then he cleared his
throat and sang happily all the way home...
40 miles - more then he had done in years!
Saturday June 15th 2013 - I've found and
fitted a genuine VW Exhaust today and fitted new fuel lines and gave him a bit
of a clean. He now sounds perfect - very quiet!
The Beetle bouncer and some chrome extras
have been removed..
Looking forward to getting it past 50000
miles.
Sunday June 16th - Went for a drive to
Knebworth Fathers Day Classic Car show in him. I've already done 90 miles in him
- thats more than he did between June 2009 and June 2012!
These are the worst parts of the car -
Rear valance -
Both rear gutter sections
Rear bumper mount hole -
Near side rear arch -
The inlet manifold needs replacing -
And the 009 needs to go too..
29th June 2013 - MOT Time - Headlight
adjustment and battery securing and an easy pass... (49643 miles.. )
June 2013 - A long trip out in the sunshine
to St Ives in Cambridgeshire - lots of back roads ... however, we had a bit of a
moment coming down the motorway, loss of power and stall... after some tinkering
it became clear that the carb float cut off had jammed.. a few taps and it
stopped flowing fuel into the choke and off it went again..
July 2013 - 4 Firestone F560 Tyres fitted...
the ones that were on it were legal but lethal!
July 27th 2013. I've just had the news that
Walter who owned the car from 1986 until June 2013 has passed away. Very sad.
August 2013 - so the bugger keeps letting me
down... after some further roadside servicing and repairs.. I found that
the float hadn't jammed it was the float cut off that was blocked...
November 3rd 2013 - We went out for
the day to Stondon Motor Museum
On the way home we passed the magic 50000
mile mark - photo by my co-pilot - Will
Sold to fund life .... Cancer is a bitch.
